The Swansea Bay City Deal is an unprecedented investment of up to £1.3 billion across a portfolio of nine headline programmes and projects delivering a total of 36 individual projects throughout South West Wales. 

The City Deal is led by four local authorities - Carmarthenshire Council, Neath Port Talbot Council, Pembrokeshire Council and Swansea Council - together with the Swansea Bay and Hywel Dda University Health Boards, Swansea University, the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, and private sector partners.

The ambition of the City Deal partners is to deliver key benefits to the region over a 15-year period including:

• Creating over 9,000 jobs in areas including energy,  manufacturing, digital, health  and well-being, R&D, education, leisure and tourism.

• Upskilling 14,000 people through 2,200 training opportunities and over 3,000 new apprenticeships.

• Contributing £1.8-2.4 billion of economic impact.

The City Deal is funded by the UK Government,  Welsh Government,  public sector and the private sector.

The programmes and projects are based on three key themes which are economic acceleration, life science and well-being, energy, smart manufacturing and digital.
