Marine Energy Test Area (META)

Led by Marine Energy Wales, META has creates a series of  pre-consented and licensed zones in and around the Milford Haven Waterway for component and scaled device marine testing.

The aim of META is to “deploy, de-risk and develop” marine energy technology by testing at a series of eight pre-consented quayside and open water sites for wave, tidal and FLOW technology. 

Non-grid connected, META is ideal for early-stage research and innovation providing a real sea test facility for developers which reduces the time, cost and risks associated with deployment and commercialisation of marine energy technology.

The sites are easily accessible yet still representative of real sea environments and are all close to the operational base of Pembroke Port, surrounded by enabling infrastructure and supply chain.
